What is a CSV file?

A CSV (comma-separated values) file is a plain text file where data fields are separated by commas.

For example:

Mary Smith, mary@example.com, 123-456-7890, 123 Somewhere Street NW.

CSV files are useful because they transfer data between programs easily. You can open them with Microsoft Excel, Apple Numbers, Google Sheets, or any text editor.
