Tiered Packages Beta Guide

Offer Basic, Standard, and Premium options (also known as Good/Better/Best) on a single estimate, so customers can choose the package that fits them best.

Important Information:

  • This feature is in active development. You may encounter bugs or missing functionality as we improve the experience.

What are Tiered Packages?

Tiered Packages let you present one estimate as three priced options: Basic, Standard, and Premium (also known as Good/Better/Best). Instead of a single yes-or-no quote, your customer sees the options side by side and picks the one that fits their needs and budget.

How it works

The estimate you build is always your Standard package. Basic and Premium are priced up or down from it, so you only ever build one estimate.

There are two parts to using Tiered Packages:

  1. Tiered Package templates (in Settings). A template controls how your package cards look and read: the tier names and descriptions, the colors, font, icon, badge, and how prices are shown. Build it once and reuse it on as many estimates as you like.

  2. Packages on an estimate. When you add packages to an estimate, you pick a template, set the price for Basic and Premium, and make any small wording changes just for that job.

If you usually offer upgrades and downgrades on paint, you can also turn on product swapping in a template. Basic and Premium then use a different product than Standard, and their prices are calculated for you.

Create a Tiered Package template

  1. In Settings, open Tiered Packages and create a new template.

  2. Give the template a name so you can find it later (for example, "Interior Repaint").

  3. Fill in the wording for each tier (Basic, Standard, Premium). Each tier can have its own content, in either or both of these formats:

    • Feature list: items marked with a checkmark (included) or an X (not included, shown slightly greyed out).

    • Description: a free text box.

  4. Choose which tier is recommended. That card gets a badge to draw your customer's eye.

  5. Optionally, disable one tier if you only want to offer two options. You can disable one tier at most, and Standard can never be disabled.

  6. Set the Properties (these apply to all three cards, see below).

  7. Optionally, turn on product swapping (see below), then save.

Product swapping

Turn this on when your tiers differ mainly by product (for example, a better paint line in Premium).

  1. Select your base product, the one you normally use on the estimate.

  2. Choose its upgrade product (used in Premium) and/or downgrade product (used in Basic).

  3. Add more swaps if needed. Each product can only be used as a base once per template.

Swaps only happen for products that are actually used on the estimate. For example, say Duration is your standard product, SuperPaint is the downgrade, and Emerald is the upgrade. Anywhere Duration is used on the estimate, on any surface, it becomes SuperPaint in Basic and Emerald in Premium. If a base product isn't on the estimate, nothing is swapped for it.

Basic and Premium prices will adjust automatically based on the swapped products. You can still override the calculated price on any estimate.

Tip: you can link a Tiered Package template to one of your Estimate Templates so it's applied automatically any time that estimate template is used. The link always uses the latest version of your Tiered Package template.

Add packages to an estimate

  1. Build your estimate as usual. This becomes your Standard package.

  2. Turn on Tiered Packages for the estimate and choose a template.

  3. The builder opens on the Standard tab. Switch to the Basic and Premium tabs to set their prices:

    • By percentage: choose 10%, 15%, 20%, or a custom amount. You can also choose whether that percentage applies to optional items on the estimate. By default it doesn't, and optional items keep their original price in that tier.

    • By dollar amount: adjust the tier's total directly.

  4. If the template uses product swapping, Basic and Premium prices are already calculated. If it doesn't, they start at the same price as Standard until you change them.

  5. Optionally, edit the wording on any tier, change the recommended tier, or disable a tier. These changes only affect this estimate, not your template. Colors, fonts, and other properties come from the template and can't be changed here.

  6. Click Review to preview the package cards. You can change how prices are shown for this estimate, then click to add the packages.

Once added, your packages appear in the estimate sidebar. From there you can Edit or Disable them, see the total for each tier, and see which template was used. The totals box shows Standard as selected by default, and you can switch it to preview another tier.

What your customer sees

  1. When your customer opens the estimate, they first see a page with the three package cards and a button to view the estimate.

  2. Clicking through takes them to the full estimate with pricing, showing the Standard package by default.

  3. They can switch between packages to compare. Standard shows as +$0, since it's the estimate you built. Choosing Basic or Premium shows the price difference in the totals box.

  4. If you applied a percentage to optional items, the adjusted option prices are shown for that package too.

  5. Whichever package is selected when they accept is the package they're approving.

After the estimate is accepted

  • If the template uses product swapping, the products on the estimate are swapped to match the chosen package, and the price updates to what you set (or what was calculated).

  • The estimate clearly shows which package was approved.

  • The work order also shows which package was approved, so your crew knows exactly what was sold.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the price of the Standard package?

Standard is always the estimate you built, so its price comes from the estimate itself. To change it, edit the estimate. You can override the Basic and Premium prices on their own tabs.

Will editing the wording on an estimate change my template?

No. Wording changes you make on an estimate only apply to that estimate. Your template stays the same.

Can I offer only two packages?

Yes. Disable either Basic or Premium, in the template or on a single estimate. Standard can't be disabled.

Why are Basic and Premium the same price as Standard?

If your template doesn't use product swapping, Basic and Premium start at the Standard price. Set a percentage or dollar adjustment on each tab to change them.

Can I override a price calculated by product swapping?

Yes. You can always adjust the Basic or Premium price on the estimate, whatever the template calculated.

Can I change colors or fonts for one estimate?

No. Styling comes from the template. You can change the price display, wording, recommended tier, and which tiers are shown on a single estimate.

What happens if I turn off the beta?

You can opt out at any time from Settings > Beta Features. Keep in mind that some visual changes affect what your customers see on their estimate, so use the estimate Preview to check how your estimates will look.

This is especially important for Tiered Packages. Turning off the beta hides Tiered Packages in Settings and in the estimate sidebar, but it doesn't remove packages you've already added to an estimate. Those packages stay on the estimate, and your customers will still see them and can choose between them. You just won't be able to edit or disable them unless you turn the beta back on. If you don't want customers to see packages on an estimate, disable the packages on that estimate before you opt out.

Tips for success

  • Keep each tier's feature list short and easy to compare, so customers can see the differences at a glance.

  • Recommend the package you'd actually suggest for the job. The badge helps guide the decision.

  • Use product swapping for jobs where the main difference between tiers is paint quality. It saves you from recalculating prices each time.
