What are Smart Templates?
Our latest Smart Template feature ensures that your templates always incorporate the latest information on production rates, products, terms, and more from your settings and the selected estimate type. This simplifies your template usage and ensures your templates are always using the most up-to-date information!
How is it different than my current templates?
In the previous version of estimate templates, they were entirely customizable. While this provided flexibility, it also meant that the templates wouldn't automatically incorporate the latest updates to items. Consequently, any changes made to those items required you to manually replace the rate or update the template to ensure it reflected the most current information.
How do I convert all my existing templates to Smart Templates?
Currently, we cannot convert existing templates. Once Smart Templates are enabled in your account, all new templates will use the new functionality. If you want to upgrade your existing templates you will need to recreate them as new templates.
Why can't I select more than one estimate type on my template?
Smart templates have a 1:1 ratio with estimate types. You can only have one estimate type selected for each template. If you would like to use a template on more than one type, we suggest copying the template and selecting another estimate type.
Will my existing estimates be affected if I delete all my old templates?
Deleting your old templates will not impact the existing estimates you've already created using them. It will just remove the ability to use them for new estimates.
Can I copy an existing template to make it a Smart Template?
No, copying an existing template will not create a Smart Template. You'll need to go through the process of rebuilding the template by clicking on +New Template.
I created a new template but nothing looks like it has changed. What's wrong?
